Rail Safety Does Not End Here
California Operation Lifesaver and Rail Safety Partners across the State and the nation joined together in a successful rail safety awareness initiative that included September Rail Safety Month in California, U.S. See Tracks? Think Train® Week and Rail Safety Week in Canada and Mexico.
California Operation Lifesaver (CAOL) built awareness through presentations, events, and social media campaigns emphasizing the critical need to always make safe choices near tracks and trains. By providing our Rail Safety Education across the state, we engaged Californians to stay alert near railroad tracks and helped create “Rail Safe Communities,” encouraging them to join us in sharing rail safety messages with their loved ones.
CAOL could not accomplish our most meaningful outreach alone. It was through Rail Safety Partners joining together to “Raise Awareness to Always Respect the Rails and Save Lives” that we achieved our most significant statewide impact. Through Rail Safety Partner Campaigns, they promoted rail safety in their corridors, encouraged citizens to always commit to making rail-safe decisions, and shared CAOL’s tips, posts, and events, which increased our mutual rail safety mission to save lives.
Our outstanding team of CAOL volunteer presenters are committed to raising awareness and sharing rail safety education through presentations and events. During Rail Safety Month, their dedication provided crucial awareness, which contributed to and encouraged priceless grassroots engagement. The support of the California Highway Patrol, local City and County Law Enforcement, and First Responders throughout California enhanced Rail Safety Efforts, providing important recognition and awareness. It emphasized the need to always follow the signs, signals, and laws near railroad tracks.
The California Legislature’s 2009 September Rail Safety Month proclamation has grown yearly and continues to strengthen partner opportunities to increase rail safety knowledge across the state.
