Take Rail Safety With You

Time For Springtime Fun

Spring is here! As the weather changes, it inspires us to get out and enjoy adventures in the warmer weather. As the sun rises and daylight lasts longer, we feel motivated to capture outdoor activities of the season. Spring renews our interest in exploring nature, hiking, taking bike rides, going for a daily run, and more.

Rail Safety Tips to Take with You

As the season gains momentum and we approach longer summer days, it is a perfect time to reinforce rail safety reminders.

Here are essential Rail Safety Tips to take with you:

  • Never let your outdoor activities take you on or near railroad tracks.
  • Never walk, run, bike, or play on or beside railroad tracks; it is dangerous and illegal.
  • Trains overhang the tracks, always keep back from the tracks.
  • Never try to beat a train. Never pass flashing lights or go around lowered gates.
  • Stay off railroad bridges and trestles, and stay out of railroad tunnels.
  • Trains can move in either direction at any time.
  • Never take photos or videos on tracks. It is dangerous and illegal.
  • Stay alert near railroad tracks and avoid distractions such as texting or wearing headphones, as they could prevent you from hearing a train.
