Giving Tuesday: Support California Operation Lifesaver Rail Safety Education to Save Lives

California Operation Lifesaver Celebrates Giving Tuesday with a “Support Rail Safety Education to Save Lives” Campaign, joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement

Tuesday, December 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020, California Operation Lifesaver is working to inspire generosity that supports our rail safety education in communities across California.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. Giving Tuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1st and throughout the year.

California has the highest number of trespassing and grade crossing fatalities in the United States and California Operation Lifesaver is joining Giving Tuesday to promote and seek support that will help us continue our efforts to provide rail safety education that plays such an important role in the safety and well-being of Californians near railroad tracks. We are dedicated to educating the public about rail safety to help save lives.

“Your support will help us in our efforts to raise awareness and change dangerous behaviors near tracks and trains that can Save Lives. I hope you will make a commitment today to support rail safety education. Every contribution helps and your gift will be put to work immediately. Your gift today makes a big difference tomorrow and every day” Stated Nancy Sheehan – California Operation Lifesaver Executive Director.

Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea:  to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on Giving Tuesday. Whether it is helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. Giving Tuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 14.2 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved.

“Giving Tuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, Giving Tuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, Giving Tuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
